But also a bit alarming for me. That's better penmanship, spelling and grammar than most of the middle managers I work with. And much nicer thoughts.

Dan - nope, all the monsters know how to spell my name. Pronouncing it is another matter.
Knitty - adorable for the most part but not all the time. Hence the "meen" comment in her note.
Bill - she is one of my "smarties" as I call them. And her grammar is better than her mother's.
Chicky - it makes the lousy pay and massive amounts of paperwork worth it. Almost.

Ditto what Bill said. I couldn't tell you what any of my co-workers penmanship looks like though. You know, computers are ruining us.
For six, I think her spelling's pretty damn good. I'm pretty sure it's better than mine was. She's certainly got a good phonetic sense.
You should have a couple of frames up with letters from the kids. After 12 yrs teaching 5th graders, it is helpful after a hard week to open up the 'happy box' of letters. The systems beats them and us down and it's nice to remember that you have a positive, lasting effect on the kids. I get paid crap but am rewarded more than NBA MVP! Love the letter! You must be great in the classroom! :)
