Wow, I haven't seen much on the news about Wilma so thanks for sharing. I guess I need to watch the news to know what they are reporting though.
I tried to issue a subpoena on someone that lives in Miami this week, and they told me that they couldn't serve it until the 9th. WTF? How am I supposed to ruin someone's life when it's already a wreck??

If that is the Board of Education you work for I can imagine that it may take quite some time for classes to resume. I'd totally get out of there forever too.
Interestingly, I was following some links around yesterday and I got to this. Apparently projections suggest that South Florida's population will grow by 7.5 million people in the next 25 years. Seems like a bad plan to cram more people into such a high risk area to me.
Wow. The photos of cars flipped over really says it all. People don't realize that after Andrew building codes got stronger, so you can't really tell how strong the storm was by looking at buildings. But to flip a car! That's some powerful wind.
I love the photo of the guy sitting on his porch though.
(My brother lives in Jupiter... they did pretty well considering. But still have a lot of work to do.)

Anthony - I couldn't agree more. Especially since this is the beginning of a cycle.
Oh, and the teachers go back tomorrow for what will probably be our last planning day - no doubt they will be taking them away from us to make up for hurricane days.
Monkey - I love that photo too. Nothing odd about a 100 year old ficus lying in your yard. I posted these so that others could see that I wasn't exaggerating, the news isn't really showing how bad it is down here. But then again, we are all aware that we have been lucky compared to Katrina victims.

I read many of Carl Hiassen's novels where he discusses the tragic building patterns in Florida.
