Hey! I have that picture as my wallpaper. It's so pretty. Doesn't look like that up here quite yet...but there are peeks of it here and there. I've moved out of 'laying on the beach' mode and am sloooowly moving into 'curl up on the couch and watch the snow fall' mode. Notice I said slowly...very, verrrrrry slooooowly.

Fall is beautiful and wonderful. BUT! Will you say the same thing come winter?!!! Cause we're all gonna want to come visit you!

we had an "indian summer" kinda week...hot, sunny, a bit humid...but they claim it will cool down a bit this week, so maybe fall is coming at last.

I put out most of my Halloween things this weekend.

I still have to make my severed head to go in the basketball hoop and the headless body to go underneath. And my witch has to be hung from the tree.

I better get stuffing with my newspapers!

Ooh ... You've no idea what this picture does to me. Where I am (up in Canada - in Alberta) we have the disagreeable combination of a northern latitude and being on the wrong side of the Western Cordillera. And that means spring arrives late and fall arrives early.

I whined and warned about it today.

What you are looking at in your picture, I was looking at about a week or two ago.

Your picture is beautiful ... but it's also an omen! Be very afraid!

You need another visit. The weather has been really wonderful. I'm originally from Florida. And, this is my fifth fall here in New York. Now, I'm getting all the hype. Being home with the kids during the day, I'm now really ready for a change of weather and season. I'm excited for fall. Talk to you later. :)

those colours really jazz up your blog.
but, missy, don't think i didn't notice that you posted a picture instead of a post. hhmmmmmm????

Can you think of a stupidier tree than the palm tree? They always plant them in places that are hot, but they give no shade. The leaves never change. And whenever there is a storm in Florida or an earthquake in California, they are always the first thing to fall on peoples' heads.

fall is my favourite time of year. i love walking around outside in cords and cable knit sweaters when the weather is sunny but cool. of course, the problem with fall is that it leads directly to winter...yarg

Fall is by far my favorite time of the year. I love the fog, the wind, crisp air, leaves changing, and free candy.

Me, too. Especially in the Virginia Piedmont, but I really don't miss what comes after it.

For what it's worth (I like it) ... from Pablo Neruda's Ode to Fall (Oda al otono):

Let us gallop,
fall - skilled rider -
before black winter
cuts us short.
It's hard,
this long drawn-out work of ours.
We've got to
ready the earth,
teach her
how to mother,
how to shelter seeds
that will sleep
in her womb guarded
by two red horsemen
who run around the world:
autumn's apprentice
and autumn itself.

Then spring's aroma,
and her tender green veil,
will burst forth freely, leaping
from roots
sunk in darkness.

Autumn is wonderful! It's just starting over here and I love it. The nights drawing in, the almost cinnamon smell of fallen leaves, the sight of your breath in the clod morning air, the smell of wood smoke in the air. Halloween and Guy Fawkes night are just around the corner.....

What I also meant to say was that as we are so far north (53 degrees north) winter days are too damn short though. Light at 8am dark by 3:30pm. Too short.

i was in florida earlier this year and i kept looking around thinking, 'is it like this all the time?'

it was a most frightening proposition.

Ditto what CBT said.

The grass is always greener... right?

brooke would you like me to send you some beautiful minnesota leaves? cause i will...

Bill said...

whiteboybob ... tell me about it. According to the Internet, I'm:
53° 34' N 113° 31' W

And currently experiencing an Arctic high. I wasn't always this far north. Cold I can handle. The short days? Now that's an issue. (Sorry, but I seem to have an obsession with weather and climate and so on.)

I have that wallpaper on my desktop too. I miss fall too, but I've never lived up north, so it's kind of like missing something you've never experienced first hand. The leaves on my trees turn from bright green to medium green, and that's about the closest I'll get to experiencing that photo.

Here in Florida we have a fake fall. You have to buy it. I know it's fall when I go out and buy things like silk autumm leaves from Joann to make arrangements; a scarecrow doormat from Target; a dishtowel with a cornucopia embroidered on it; or pumpkin spiced coffee. Sigh. But at least the temperature goes from boiling to more moderate.

Sometimes I wish I'd been born in Vermont!

I go through this every year. I baked pumpkin cookies over the wekend, just for the fall aroma.

Awesome picture!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE FALL!

Today in Cleveland the high is 78 and the low is 58. Tomorrow the high is 58. What happened to fall??

Fall is more chubby person friendly weather. In the summer I sweat buckets and it is not a pretty site.

The next couple of weeks will probably offer the best fall colours here in Southern Ontario. It's been unseasonably warm the last week or two so although the trees did begin to change colour they pretty much stopped. Luckily I get a long commute through the country twice a week to take it all in.

Come up for air, girl!

But then, I'm one to talk. I spent all weekend working on report cards etc. etc. etc. etc.....Now I'm getting ready to set my alarm for 4:30 a.m. so I can get to school a couple of hours early.

Hang in there!

Since I have been stuck in Florida, I miss Autumn more and more every year.

*takes breath away* Brooke, that photo is fantastic. Especially, because I am in love with autumn. I wish I would have seen that a day earlier . . . seems we've both been thinking about fall ;-)

This whole thing is confusing me so much. I'm having sex with 10 different women, but somehow I want to steal your teachers union pension. I can't stop thinking about it.

Dumbass is my favorite insult.
