"I tried to push her out a window in Little Rock once."

I saw this on Sizzle's blog today and being that I haven't had an original thought in weeks I love movies, I thought I would give it a go. Here’s how it works, should you decide to participate, too:

* Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
* Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
* Post them on your blog for everyone to guess.
* Fill in the film title once it’s been guessed.

These are your rules:

* Leave your guesses in the comments.
* No Googling or using IMDB search functions. Don’t cheat!

1. "I've been specializing in groups, fighting gangs for local charities, that kind of thing."
The Princess Bride* - guessed by Rich.

2. "We're in the pipe, five by five."
Aliens - guessed by Dan-E.

3. "Do you spend time with your family? Good. Because a man that doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man."
The Godfather - guessed by Dan-E again, and he even got the right character.

4. "Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light."
Ghostbusters - guessed by Sizz!

5. "You cannot leave everything to Fate, boy. She's got a lot to do. Sometimes you must give her a hand. "
Ever After - guessed by Princess of the Universe.

6. "How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?"
The Usual Suspects - guessed by Tim, sort of.

7. "May I have ten thousand marbles, please?"
Animal House - guessed by Todd.

8. "At least he is not a book burner, you Nazi cow."
Field of Dreams - guessed by Bill.

9. "I'd bet they're asleep in New York. I'd bet they're asleep all over America."
Casablanca - guessed by Bill again!

10. "This is good stuff. I got it from a Negro."
Caddyshack - guessed by Ubermilf.

11. "You're not getting this back. I consider it asshole tax."
Fight Club - guessed by Hilly.

12. "It vexes me. I'm terribly vexed."
Gladiator - guessed by Penelope.

13. "You Americans, you're all the same. Always overdressing for the wrong occasions."
Raiders of the Lost Ark - guessed by Nick.

14. "I shall call him squishy, and he shall be mine, and he shall be my squishy!"
Finding Nemo - guessed by Penelope again!

15. "Ned, I would love to stay here and talk with you... but I'm not going to."
Groundhog Day - guessed by guessed by Todd again!

Bonus points for getting the title.
Paper Mooon - guessed by Cajunvegan.

Ready....set ...go!

*Best. Movie. Ever.

Sizz - of course I still read it! I've been a crap blogger of late, but I will be writing a post soon to explain why. Woohoo Ghostbusters! You and I have very similar movie tastes!

Penelope - welcome! And well done. I'll come check out your list!

Hi! I came here through Google Reader Shared...nice to meet you!

#11 Fight Club

#10 Caddyshack

Sorry I insulted your blog on the last post, but it got you to post again, didn't it?

Nyah Nyah Na Nyah Nyah

Hilly - nice to meet you too! It was hard picking just one from that movie.

Ubie - you're just mean. But right.

Princess of the Universe said...

#5 is Ever After.
I know that I know #13, but it's just not coming to me!!

Scarlet Hip said...

Of course the princess would get that one right!

Tim said...

8 - The Usual Suspects?

Dan-E said...

2. "aliens"?

3. "the godfather" spoken by don corleone

Scarlet Hip said...

Tim - hmmm...if you meant 6, then you are right.

Dan - don't be so greedy! Guessing two of them and getting them right!

Bill said...

There's a few in there I should know but can't quite get. But #8? Well, that would be Field of Dreams. That's where the wife, Annie, gets feisty in a PTA meeting or something.

Bill said...

Aaahhhh ... and #9! I just got it! That's Rick! The movie? What else ... Casablanca!

Scarlet Hip said...

Bill - right on both counts - I knew you'd get the classic. Now give someone else a chance.

"May I have ten thousand marbles, please?" is from Animal House. Flounder says it to a girl who works at a place that sells marbles.

I think the "Ned..." quote is from Groundhog Day. Isn't Ned the annoying insurance salesman? I could be wrong.

Scarlet Hip said...

Todd - right and right. Of course.

The title is from Paper Moon.

Scarlet Hip said...

CV - I didn't think anyone would get that one. Well done.

The Americans one is from Raiders.

G3T Films said...

Number one is the wonderful ex-turnbuckle eating ex-wrestler Andre the Giant in the Princess Bride.

Now, I'll put down my sword and you'll put down your rock and we'll try and kill each other like civilised people. :)

Oh, and number 13 would have to be the freakiest hand melted Nazi of the all, Ron Lacey in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes?!

Scarlet Hip said...

Nick - well done! Even if you did cheat.

Rich - you got the last one!! Best. Movie. Ever. Now rest well. And dream of large women.

G3T Films said...

Ha, totally!

There's a shortage of perfect breasts in the world. It would be a shame to ruin yours.

Scarlet Hip said...

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

There are some great flicks on here. I'm really curious how Harrison is going to do with the new Raider's of the Lost Ark. I love those movies.

Great movie selections Scarlet.

Ever heard of Plato? Aristotle? Socrates?

Morons.

Possible the funniest exchanges in any film ever...

Scarlet Hip said...

Can I just tell you that was almost going to be the quote I put on there?!?

Fezzik, tear his arms off.

My favourite is as they're assessing the castle situation after Westley has been mostly dead all day and Inigo says something like, 'Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up'.

That and the land war in Asia line always make me chuckle.

Scarlet Hip said...

I can't even come up with one favorite line.

Have fun storming the castle!

Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday.

Tyrone, you know how much I love watching you work, but I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped.

The fact that his name is Tyrone just kills me!

I think I'm going to start saying #12 more often.
