I Can Remember...

Those days we left behind,
Will always be around
For in this heart of mine,
I will never forget the times
In my youth - always dreamin'
In my youth - I believe in
Innocence was mine - in my youth

In my youth, I had to spend summers picking cotton at my uncle's farm in Mississippi.

We should keep a bit of our dreams till the day we die...

Oddly enough, all the things that fascinated me in my youth still fascinate me. I would still rather be on a beach watching waves and dreaming of pirates than watch American Idol or worry about whether or not the coffee is decaf.

Actually, the older I get the more I think I'm going back to the kid I use to be if only because adult shit sucks. Adults have little or no imagination.

...and soon you will be back there!

Then, your day will go as follows:

Breakfast at Annette's, with an stop at the liquor store on Dorsett to pick up a eight-pack of pony Buds.

Then off to the beach by 11am. Roll over at noon when you hear the FM 95 suncheck. Leave the beach by 2pm, remembering to tie your bikini top back on before you get up. (No accidental flash, part III stories please!!)

Nap time from 2:30 to around 4pm.

Get up and head to Smith's Clam Bar for some dinner, stopping at Sacramento Deli and Liquor to pick up some more beer. (Be careful not to speed through Longport!!)Have some chowdaa and fried clams.

Head to the Anchorage for a few coldies, then back to the island. (Again, being careful not to swurve or speed through Longport!!)

Finish the night up at Chez Robert's with a plastic lunchroom serving tray full of hot wings and a cold draught beer while listening to 'ol Blue Eyes sing The Summer Winds.

Go home, sleep, and repeat the next day. (Restaurant's are interchangeable. Have lunch at Dino's and dinner at The Greenhouse, but I think that you get the idea.)

Feel free to bring a friend along for your adventure. Or don't. You will see people that you know so it won't matter.

*sigh*

I miss home.

Todd - were you born a poor black child?

Mone - that's the idea.

Bill - you hit the nail on the head, my friend.

Loz - I was hoping you would read this!!!! I saw them at a little venue in Sydney back in the day. Jon sang right to me. I swear I thought I was going to trample over my boyfriend to get to him.

Therese - download it. It's a well-known Aussie bar song.

Flounder - I can't even improve upon that day. Ok, maybe a bike ride on the boards and then down through Longport. And then a night in OC for Mack and Mancos pizza.

I, on the other hand, have a piss poor memory and remember nothing.

I wanna be a kid again.

Just so I can run around with no shirt on and avoid brushing the back of my head.

... I guess I could still do that.

Brooke, do you like that crappy pizza you can fold?

Knitty Kitty said...

aren't you living near the spring break capital?!

jiggs said...

spring break! I've got some beads! show us your boobs!

Miss Jay - I have often felt that sometimes not remembering is best.

Spin - I started to write about all the things I want to still be able to do, but the list was too long and my tears got in the way.

Todd - are you saying there is foldable pizza? Let me at it!

Knitty - you got it baby! Spring break in Fort Lauderdale! Not quite the same at 40 as it was at 18...

Jiggs - again...not quite the same at 40 as at 18...

I LOVE the countdown! Wooo!

Looks like our spring breaks coincide. Are you headed up to Jersey, or are you staying around FL? Whatever you do, Brooke, enjoy yourself! I think you have earned yourself a week of rest and relaxation and fun. If nothing else, go get yourself a massage or something!

I'm headed to Arizona for some fun in the sun with a group of my oldest girlfriends. We've known each since HS and I can't wait to hang out with them and have some fun on our VACATION!!!

WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!

Scarlet Hip said...

BJ - book your flight baby. I'm already here!

MoMo - I was planning to go to Jersey to start the job hunt, but since mom is still in the hospital down here I'm going to just hang out and sleep and spend time with her. Oh, and do all the things on my to-do list - which is now four pages long.

Springbreak doesn't have much relevance for me but I did take next week off. I've kinda begun my time off tonight in that I really don't give a flying fuck about work tomorrow - all I care about is getting my new glasses. (How sad is that - looking forward to new glasses?)

As for my week off ... not sure what I'll be doing beyond looking at my place and saying, "Yeah, these wall should probably be painted. And I could clear out that closet at some time. [another beer popped open] And yeah, that floor could use a sweeping ..."

I need spring break like I need a hole in my head. (I really do need a hole in my head, it would resolve many of my issues.)

Isn't Panama City Beach where they film all those great Girls Gone Wild videos? I hear Snoop Dogg will be in town.

Loz said...

Jon's still got the goods... sure, the goods are a little saggier than they used to be but they're still there.

Scarlet Hip said...

Bill - did you take next week off so you could stalk me obsessively? Good.

Pants - you'll fit right in down here, half the people in South Florida have holes in their heads. The other half are just insane.

Egan - I wouldn't know. But Fort Lauderdale has a huge gay population, so you should come on down with Pants and BabyJ.

Loz - he was so hot...and what a voice...

flounder said...

Will you be participating in any wet t-shirt contests or toga parties?

egan said...

Where do I sign up? I get to meet BabyJ and Pants AND hot gay dudes? This is a dream, dream, come true Brooke.

Flounder - oh those days are long over my friend.

Egan - I know, you must be just squirming with excitement.

PEZ - west and welaxation at wast!

Kendra - goodness girl, how did you turn out so normal. Wait a minute...never mind.

Lo Lo - thank you! On my way home I blasted my radio as loud as it could go and sang at the top of my lungs. It was very freeing.

Franklin - you're so gay.

Ubie - good. Thanks. You?

Hi Babycakes! Thanks for stopping by toady!

Bill said...

I'll do my best to stalk you on my week off but if I have a beverage or two and get misdirected, please don't be offended. The sun is shining and the days are very lovely here. Sitting on a blog like a porta-potty may not be the best use of my time.

But I'll do my best!

jiggs said...

How come you aren't overpowered by the mystery of the beads?

Ubermilf said...

Let's have a drink to celebrate together.

I miss spring break. It was different when you were a kid ....you'd get to stay up late and watch the most offbeat TV shows all night like The Rat Pack or Love American Style (I'm really dating myself heer).
