Riley is having surgery today to repair his hip. There will be much whimpering, crying, and huddling in the corner.Luckily, Riley will be unconscious during this time and won't have to deal with me.

what happened? Is he home? Is he okay?
Molly thinks a rawhide chew is in order. Or a big meal of meat stuff. But that's Molly's particular viewpoint.
Riley won't like what's happening but, as you said, he'll be under. Dogs (and cats), from what I've seen, get over things quickly.
You, on the other hand, will require a long series of gin and tonics.
I hope his hip is fine after this!
